Riverside County Family Child Care Association>
NAFCC / LICENSED PROVIDER ALERT

August 21, 2007

Overview
The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) is a
nonprofit organization dedicated to the support and
accreditation of family childcare. Its mission is to
strengthen the profession of family childcare through
professional development and leadership.

Resources available
Most members of the NAFCC are providers or advocates of
family childcare, but parents are encouraged to become
members, too. An individual membership is $35 annually and
includes the quarterly National Perspective, a
comprehensive newsletter highlighting legislation,
accreditation updates, and diversity issues; and Regions in
Review, a regional guide to FCC news, conferences, and
issues.

A membership also gives parents and providers access to
public policy advocacy issues, a resource library,
networking with providers, associations and other
organizations, discounts for childcare businesses, and
accreditation for providers. NAFCC also hosts an annual
National Family Child Care conference.

To find accredited family childcare in their area, parents
can search the NAFCC Web site by city, state, zip code, or
area code, or call the NAFCC's offices.

LICENSED

PROVIDER ALERT !!!

Do you know that there are people in Los Angeles County who
are posing as licensing workers so they can get into
licensed family child care homes?

They say they are there from Community Care Licensing (CCL)
to give a "letter grade" as a rating of the provider's
home. There is no such project going on at CCL.

DO NOT LET THEM IN !!!

Community Care Licensing is giving the following advice to
providers:

Þ All CCL staff have picture identification cards; they
must present this ID before entering your home

Þ If the person does not present an ID, ask to see it
before admitting them to your home

Þ Providers can call the local licensing office to verify
that the visitor is from CCL

Þ If someone posing as a CCL worker tries to enter your
home, contact the local police or Sheriff's department in
your community

Be alert and share this information with other providers.
Community Care Licensing's web site at www.ccld.ca.gov will
have more information and updates so providers can stay
informed about this very serious situation.
